A Personal Note from Erica....
Before becoming a Telecommunicator, I bounced around from job to job. Once I became a Telecommunicator, I felt a sense of purpose- and family. My co-workers became my family. We helped each other raise children, argued, cried together, and laughed together. I am grateful every day for the bonds that I have made from being a Telecommunicator.
Why do I teach? One of the main reasons why I teach is because I believe in passing knowledge on. It does not benefit me, my agency, nor anyone else to keep my knowledge in my pocket for later. Part of being a teacher is to share all my knowledge and experience, not just a portion. Another reason why I teach and train is to create a great partner. In the heat of the moment, I want a great partner who I can depend on to be a reliable team member. After all, Telecommunicators must work as a team. Finally, another reason why I teach is that I believe training should be structured and consistent so new employees cannot only learn things the “right way”, but also so people can proudly call themselves successful Telecommunicators.
