Program Overview: This curriculum meets or exceeds all the requirements for the certification training of 911 Telecommunicators set forth by the State of Florida Department of Health in response to State Statute 401.465. At the conclusion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion which will allow them to register for the PST State Exam.

Our academy is a 240-hour course. The course may be delivered in either a 6-week or 12-week format covering the following topics in order to meet the State of Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator Curriculum:

  • Customer Service
  • Dispatching 101

Course Objectives:

Successful completion of this course will: 

  • Prepare and qualify the participant to sit for the State of Florida Certification Test for Emergency Telecommunicators 
  • Provide a strong foundation on which to build their Public Safety career 
  • Prepare the participant for the difficult nature of their chosen career 

Method of Instruction: The course content will be delivered via online. Within each module, there are assignments, discussions, and quizzes for each module. The scope and material of each module will vary. Additionally, each student must complete a Demonstrated Competency Checklist (provided) and return to the instructor prior to the conclusion of the class.   

Telecommunications is a rewarding career but also can be difficult and challenging. If you feel that the course is not the right fit for you, you can withdrawal within the first 3 days of the program and receive a full refund. Withdrawals within the first 10 days are eligible for a 50% refund. Any withdrawals after that time are nonrefundable.

State of Florida 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator Curriculum is a challenging program. This course helps prepare the user for the state licensure exam.

This course highlights liable, willful and wanton conduct by a Telecommunicator that will lead to an agency and personal liability and what conduct is immune to liability. Additionally, case studies are reviewed and discussed where Telecommunicators have found to be liable and cases where they have found to be immune from liability. This course can be modified to meet agency needs and can range from 2-8 hours, depending on course content. It is recommended that the eight-hour course is taught on-site. Interactive, online training is available for this course.


The awareness of the depth and gravity human trafficking is growing in today’s society. This course sheds light on the growing problem, defines the various types of human trafficking, questions to ask help determine if someone is a victim of human trafficking, resources that are available to victims, and ways an agency can help combat human trafficking. This course can be modified to meet agency needs and can range from 2-4 hours, depending on the course content. It is recommended that the four-hour course is taught on-site. Interactive, online training is available for this course.


This course not only teaches the phases of an active shooter but also outlines the roles and duties of individuals and departments before, during, and after an active shooter incident.  The course includes case studies that highlight where agencies successfully handled the incident along with lessons learned. The course content is dependent on the course length. This course can be modified to meet the agency’s needs and run anywhere from 4-24 hours. It is recommended that the 24-hour course is taught on-site. Interactive, online training segments are also available for this course.


It is recommended that this course be taught in conjunction with Active Shooter, or combined for a 32-hour course. This course outlines prominent international and domestic terrorist groups and their methods and ideology. This course also includes sovereign citizens, as some self-proclaimed sovereign citizens have committed grave domestic terroristic acts.  The course also includes case studies and lessons learned from the incidents. This course can be modified to the agency’s needs and can only include information on sovereign citizens. This course can be modified to meet agency needs and can range from 4-8 hours, depending on the course content. It is recommended that the eight-hour course is taught on-site. Interactive, online training is available for this course.


Students will learn the definition of a public record, what are some common exemptions, and highlights of cases that have come into the public eye that have defined public records law. This course is available on-site or online.

This is a life-changing course! Servant leadership was first coined by author Robert K. Greenleaf. It is a leadership philosophy and practices while identifying the needs of internal and external customers. This is an on-site training that can range from 8-24 hours, depending on the agency’s needs. The agency has the option to host a class for neighboring agencies who wish to participate. 


This course teaches new supervisors the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and core knowledge necessary to be successful in their career and the organization. The course will highlight topics such as supervisor liability, employee management and performance, leadership, personality assessment, and critical-decision making. This course can be modified to meet the agency’s needs and can range from 40-80 hours, depending on course content. This is an on-site training only. The agency has the option to host a class for neighboring agencies who wish to participate.
